The latest bikini trend is actually influenced from decades past. The retro look is once again hot for swimwear. These suits feature high-waisted bottoms and are cut lower on the leg for fuller coverage. The tops are often designed similar to bras, with underwires and a lot of support. Another hot trend features a one-shouldered top. Instead of a regular top with two straps, this bikini has a wide band that crosses over to one shoulder. Many of these tops are a bandeau style, rather than a traditional top with cups. This style, while fashion-forward, is still tame enough for women who want to try something new without choosing a wild swimsuit.
The “monokini” is the newest design in swimwear, and many celebrities have already embraced the trend. This swimsuit resembles a one piece with large cutaways at the sides. All that remains is the top and bottom of the bathing suit, with a “strip” of fabric connecting them, usually down the middle of the suit. “Monokini” designs vary greatly, and are the most daring of the new crop of bikinis showing up at the beach.
Shopping for bikinis online is a great option if you know your size. While some women prefer to try on their swimsuits at a store, there is a much larger stock of styles and colors online.
