Lasers light up the stage for Rihanna, Chris Brown, David Guetta and Lil Wayne at the 2012 Grammy’s

ORLANDO, Fla – February 13, 2012 – Special effects and lighting are an important aspect for any major musical production and there was no exception at this year’s 2012 Grammy Awards. While a variety of different lighting mediums were used, spectators from around the world are all still talking about the amazing performances by given by Rihanna and also by Chris Brown (featuring David Guetta and Lil Wayne) which incorporated an amazing array of laser light into the special effects mix.

When Rihanna took the stage, to sing her hit single “We Found Love”, the reaction from the audience was overwhelming. A dazzling array of beautiful white laser light was projected above the crowd, and added a powerful yet complimentary touch to Rihanna’s sumptuous dance moves and elegant voice. Behind the lasers was veteran special effects company Pyrotek and their sister company Laser Design Production. The team at Laser Design Production used three 30W OPS laser systems positioned mid stage. In addition they used four more 25W systems placing two of them on top of the video wall and the other two positioned on stage left and right. To control the laser projectors, they used Pangolin’s awards winning LD2000 systems, inside of the QM2000.NET Laptop Box. To add a little more excitement to the mix, the team decided to use the LivePRO software from Pangolin to trigger laser cues “live” for the performance.

When Chris Brown took the stage for his performance alongside David Guetta and Lil Wayne, the crowds went wild. In this tribute to the new style of electronic dance music that has been sweeping the world, the artists used a fascinating array of green laser beam effects to capture the excitement and rhythm that the electronic style of music has brought to the music scene. The lasers for this performance were programmed and operated by Marty Canavan at YLS Entertainment. Marty is no newcomer to doing lasers at high profile events like the Grammy’s. His unique style of programming produced multiple beam patterns and chases which perfectly complimented the upbeat and fast pace style of the music. Marty did all of the programming using Pangolin’s LD2000 System.
